PERA
The district is a member of the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) and all employees (including PERA retirees as of January 2, 2011) have 8% of their pay tax-deferred and sent to PERA in lieu of social security. Medicare taxes are withheld and paid to the federal government. Unemployment insurance and workers compensation insurance premiums are paid by the district for all employees. The PERA 401(k) plan is available to employees.
INSURANCE
The district provides a $25,000 life and AD&D insurance policy through Companion Life for all benefited employees (those who work at least half-time on a consistent basis). The district also pays the premium for benefited employees for health insurance through Regional Care, Inc. and medical reimbursement (Gap) insurance through the Custer County School Medical Reimbursement Plan. Optional dependent health insurance, optional dependent medical reimbursement (Gap) insurance, optional employee and dependent dental insurance through Companion Life and optional employee and dependent vision insurance through Anthem Blue Vision is available through payroll withholding. Benefited employees have the option of waiving medical and gap insurance coverage if they have coverage from another source. In the case of waiver, a monthly stipend equal to one half of the current employee medical insurance premium will be paid to that employee. Payroll withholding is also available for a discounted membership fee at Altitude Fitness (a local health club). All federal and state labor requirements (including minimum wage posting, Family Medical Leave Act information, and workers’ compensation information) is posted in the administration office copy room, the time clock area in the back of the elementary/middle school copy/work room, and in the high school copy room.
