Athletics & Activities
Welcome Bobcats!
I am thrilled to join the Custer County School District as your new Athletic Director. As we embark on another exciting athletic year, I look forward to building on our tradition of excellence and fostering an environment where every student-athlete can thrive.
My Journey in Sports
Sports have been an integral part of my life. After playing college basketball, I spent seven years coaching collegiate women's basketball, followed by coaching at the junior high and high school levels. My experience also extends to supporting athletes as an academic advisor, teacher, and principal for the past seven years. These roles have shaped my belief in providing equitable opportunities for all athletes, regardless of the sport they play or their background.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission at Custer County School District is to provide a quality education in a safe environment. Our vision is to prepare students for life after graduation. Athletics play a crucial role in this mission by teaching valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.

Custer County Schools Fight Song
"Oh, the Blue and the Gold over all, May they rise to the sky, never fall. The world looks to them in their flight; They are the colors for which we fight. We’re the students of CCHS. The school that is always the best. We’ve stood every trial, every test. And now the Blue and Gold will Fight, fight, fight, forever!"
Sportsmanship and Values
We hold sportsmanship in high regard, and I want to emphasize the importance of respect, self-control, and integrity both on and off the field. Here’s what sportsmanship means to us:
The Player:
Treats opponents with respect
Plays hard, but plays within the rules
Exercises self-control at all times, setting the example for others to follow
Respects officials and accepts their decisions without gesture of argument
Wins without boasting, loses without excuses, and never quits
Always remembers that it is a privilege to represent the school and community
The Coach:
Treats own players, and opponents with respect
Inspires in the athletes a love for the game and the desire to compete fairly
Is the type of person he/she wants the athletes to be
Disciplines those on the team who display unsportsmanlike behavior
Respects the judgment and interpretation of the rules by the officials
Know he/she is a teacher, and understands the athletic arena is a classroom
The Spectator:
Attempts to understand and be informed of the playing rules
Appreciates a good play no matter who makes it
Cooperates with and responds enthusiastically to cheerleaders
Shows compassion for an injured player; applauds positive performances; does not heckle, jeer or distract players, and avoids use of profane and obnoxious language, and behavior
Respects judgment and strategy of the coach, and does not criticize players or coaches for loss of a game
Respects property of others and authority of those who administer the competition
Censures those whose behavior is unbecoming
Eligibility Regulation
Eligibility to participate in interscholastic athletics shall be determined with reference to the Constitution and by-laws of the Colorado High School Activities Association and the rules and regulations of the school district. School rules will be applicable for grade eligibility. Custer County Secondary School has a weekly eligibility policy.
Students are required to pass all subjects with a 60% or higher to participate in activities or athletic events including all school sponsored dances. Students with two "D's" or one "F" cannot participate in any athletic event or extra-curricular activities. Participation in practices will be at the discretion of the individual coach. Our eligibility is done one week at a time, reported on Monday for that school week. Telephone notification will be made. If you have a student failing a class, please contact the teacher to see what can be done to help the student.
In pursuit of excellence, the Colorado High School Activities Association strives to create a positive and equitable environment in which all qualified student participants are challenged and inspired to meet their highest potential.
To fulfill this mission the Colorado High School Activities Association will:
Act as an integral component of the educational process.
Administrate, interpret, and seek compliance with the CHSAA By-laws as needed to promote fair play within Colorado activities and athletics.
Provide diverse and equitable opportunities for participation that encourages all qualified students to take part in the activity/athletic experience.
Provide an environment that enhances personal development through sporting behavior, character education, teamwork, leadership, and citizenship while increasing values that partner the educational standards of the State of Colorado.
Recognize the outstanding accomplishments of Colorado athletes, teams, coaches, and administrators through our academic and activity awards programs.
