Dear Bobcat Parents and Community,

We want to reach out directly to let you know about recent developments in the Custer County School District. As you may know, last week the Board of Education was faced with the unfortunate need to place Superintendent Peck and High School Principal McCormick on leave pending an independent investigation and further review of a personnel matter. We know that changes like this can be disruptive and bring about many questions, and we want to assure you that our focus will be on supporting our students, staff, and families.

During this transition, we (Lori and Walt Cooper) will be stepping in to serve the district in these important roles. Together, we bring decades of educational leadership experience and a deep commitment to the success of all students. We are honored to work alongside the Bobcat Community.

Our priority is to ensure a smooth and positive environment until the issues at hand are resolved. We will do our very best to maintain stability, keep communication open, and support the students and staff every step of the way. We will also be drawing on the talents and expertise of the dedicated staff throughout the district to support us and ensure a smooth and successful transition during this time.

Thank you for your continued support and trust. We are excited to work with you and look forward to a strong conclusion to the school year for all Bobcat families.

With gratitude,

Dr. Walt Cooper
