Why serve?  Running for the School Board

School Board Election

Three Board of Education positions are up for election:

District 1 - 2 year term

District 4 - 4 year term

District 5 - 4 year term

A district map is on the school district website.

Candidates have to be a registered elector of the school district at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election and must live in the district they are running for a position.

Each candidate needs to pick up a petition to be listed as a candidate and obtain a minimum of 25 good signatures.  A candidate can get their signatures from any registered voter within the whole school district, not just their district.  These petitions can be picked up at the main school office or administration office prior to August 4th.  Candidates may begin circulating their petitions no earlier than August 4th.  Gathering petition signatures can begin on August 4th and the petitions are due back no later than August 27th.

All registered voters in the county are able to vote for candidates from each district.  Please contact the school for further information.

The Custer County School Board received the Colorado Association's School Board's (CASB)

All-State Pacesetter Award on Friday, December 9th at the annual CASB Convention in Colorado Springs.  The award was sponsored by GK Baum and presented to the school board that demonstrates educational leadership.

School Board President noted in her acceptance speech "As we all know, the schools belong to the community.  The community's asset is much more than bricks and mortar.  Most importantly it is the students it serves.  In every decision we make we ask ourselves "Is it good for kids" and then make our decisions accordingly."

Congratulations Bobcat school board members!
